About Neural Field Notes
Neural Field Notes is an independent publication exploring neuroscience, brain dynamics, and the mathematical and computational approaches used to understand them.
The site brings together essays, research notes, technical explanations, and reflections on scientific literature. Its interests range from the characterisation of neural states and their transitions to broader questions about cognition, consciousness, and the relationship between neural activity and experience.
Rather than presenting itself as a comprehensive source of answers, Neural Field Notes is intended as a space for sustained inquiry: examining ideas, working through difficult concepts, and connecting perspectives across disciplines.
Behind the Notes
Neural Field Notes is written and maintained by Daniela Morales, a biomedical engineer with an MRes in Neurotechnology from Imperial College London.
Her research interests centre on computational neuroscience, neural dynamics, and the mathematical representation of brain states. Her recent work has explored EEG-based approaches to characterising changes in brain activity using multidimensional feature spaces.
The publication is an independent project, reflecting the author’s interests, interpretations, and continuing research and learning rather than the views of any affiliated institution.
